Takhmina Zakirova is contributing to impactful national and international work in climate policy and education across Central Asia.
With experience at the United Nations Development Programme in Kyrgyzstan, Takhmina supported the development and submission of the country’s Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to the UNFCCC in 2025. It is a key national document outlining commitments to reduce emissions and adapt to climate change. This work required intensive coordination across government, international organizations, and experts, and was delivered within a demanding nine-month timeline.
In March 2026, Takhmina joined KIMEP University as an Executive Assistant to the President, where she aims to contribute to institutional development and the advancement of higher education initiatives.
But her impact goes beyond professional roles.
As an alumna of the U.S.-CAEF, Takhmina remains actively engaged in the community. She led a session within the Alumni Association’s “Career Launch” program, designed to equip third- and fourth-year university students with mentorship and practical tools for their careers and further studies. Her session, “The Working World Explained”, brought together eight U.S.-CAEF Alumni who shared their journeys across entrepreneurship, international development, corporate, and academic sectors, offering practical advice and answering participants’ questions. The session helped students explore diverse career paths and gain actionable insights for entering the workforce.
Through her work, Takhmina bridges policy, education, and community engagement, contributing to systems that create long-term impact.
